Abstract
密尔的自由理论包括了承诺自由的权利层面和论证自由的功利层面两个 不同的层面，权利层面的内在紧张是由其独特的功利主义的论证产生的，而功 利在密尔自由理论中的基础性地位又揭示了自由原则与功利原则之冲突在密尔 自由理论中的非真实性。 [Mill’s thought of liberty includes two different levels. one is promise of liberty as right , the other is argumentation of liberty as utility. The inner strain arises from the unique argumentation on the basis of utilitarianism, however, the priority of the principle of utility in Mill’s thought of liberty reveals why apparent conflicts between utility and liberty were not real in Mill’s thought of liberty. ]
