The author shows that in the field of Al-Quran and hadith studies, most of orientalist uses historical criticism and textual criticism approach in their study. Some scholars such as Christoph Luxenberg and Theodor Noldeke try to use historical criticism approach to study Al-Quran. In the other side, John Wansbrough and Arthur Jeffery use literary criticism approach to study al-Quran. In the field of Hadith studies, there are Goldziher and Schacht that focus on authenticity of hadith.
