Essa investigação, portanto, buscou saber a opinião de um grupo de docentes da área da saúde e da biologia sobre essa prática, assim como sua visão sobre as Comissões de Ética ao Uso de Animais (CEUAs) institucionais. Os participantes foram entrevistados e suas respostas categorizadas pelo método qualitativo de análise de conteúdo. Dessa análise emergiram duas grandes categorias, cuidado e substituição, mostrando que estes profissionais se preocupam com o uso eticamente correto dos animais, enfatizando a atenção quanto à minimização da dor e sofrimento e substituição por métodos alternativos, sempre que possível, nas aulas práticas. Entretanto, os participantes não demonstraram unanimidade no que tange a essa substituição em pesquisa de ponta. Os respondentes, ainda, mostraram-se dispostos a seguir as recomendações do CEUA, reconhecendo sua importância na orientação quanto ao uso adequado dos animais no âmbito institucional" ["The use of animals in scientific research and in teaching is a topic which, while not being the object of a consensus, has been widely discussed in Brazil, especially after the formalization of Act n. 11.794/08, known as Arouca Law.
