Five years ago, when the Earth Charter was first launched, we had a significant challenge ahead of us: to make the document widely known and used. To fulfill the Initiative’s mission requires promoting an understanding of the relationship between nature, people, communities, countries, etc. and perseverance in establishing an ethical foundation for the emerging global society. This is not something that can be achieved in the short term.
