The author states that Syuhada Mosque had pivotal role as the center of forming dakwah in Yogyakarta. As a modern mosque, there were shift orientation of dakwah activism in 1980s. Before this decade, the process of recruitment was addressed only to make a preacher or muballigh-normative dakwah. Since 1980s, the process of recruitment was more focused on making the preachers able to empower the Muslim society- transformative dakwah. This research also finds that the activism typology of the Syuhada mosque youth is “dakwah movement”, referring to based-material movement.
