For our purposes in this lecture series, it is important to note that the Christian and Missionary Alliance was strongly allied to the “higher life” movement previously discussed. A.B. Simpson, the founder of the Alliance, advocated a theology of sanctification that fits into the Keswick pattern rather than the classical Wesleyan Holiness theology. That the Assemblies of God adopted many of the values of the Alliance is important for understanding the complexity of Pentecostal origins."engWith permission of the license/copyright holderPentecostalismMissionary AlliancetheologyAssemblies of GodHolinessChristian denominationsPentecostal, CharismaticGlobal Church History and World ChristianityHistory of Christian missionsNon-Wesleyan PentecostalismArticle
