Para ello haremos unestudio comparativo de Nietzsche y otros autores que, más recientemente, hanelaborado el tema de la cultura de masas. Estructuraremos dicho estudio en tresmomentos: [1] Una correcta aproximación a la polémica de la cultura de masas,de manos de Eco, Bauman y Jameson; [2] la utilización del conceptonietzscheano de “nihilismo” como herramienta teórica para abordar esapolémica, y [3] la explicación, a partir del materialismo cultural de Harris, de las causas de ese nihilismo, y consiguientemente la respuesta a las preguntas iniciales" ["The purpose of this article is to discuss on the mass culture and, more specifically, on the issue of “cultural catastrophism”, that is, if [a] Western culture is somehow in a process of decay, and why it would be so, or if on the contrary [b] that is a false perception, however, historically repeated, and what would be the cause. To do this we’ll make a comparative study of Nietzsche and other authors who have more recently elaborated on mass culture.
