Abstract
"No Século XXI, definir os limites da bioética e da ética em pesqusas envolvendo seres humanos será o main course da ciência e o debate aberto sobre estes temas é fundamental. Dentre as questões de bioética, uma que tem recebido reiterada atenção da mídia e da comunidade científica é a questão da biopirataria. Neste artigo, por meio de um estudo de caso são discutidos alguns aspectos relativos a situações que ocorrem quando o profissional está em campo e quais as possíveis ações e repercussões de tais ocorrências sob os aspectos éticos, morais, científicos e legais. Discute-se também, como equívocos na coleta e análise crítica de informações etnográficas por parte da imprensa e de informações publicadas em jornais por parte de pesquisadores podem levar a graves conseqüências para os indivíduos e comunidades envolvidas, gerando (des)informações que se perpetuam. A biopirataria é uma questão a ser fortemente combatida pelas autoridades e por todos os cidadãos; no entanto, enquanto todos os brasileiros não tiverem plena consciência ética cidadã corre-se o risco de perder muito mais, além de nossa biodiversidade" ["In the 21st Century, the delimitation of the bioethics and ethics limits in research involving human beings will be the main course of science, an open debate about such themes is going to be something essential. Among all bioethics issues, one that has been receiving major attention by the press and by the scientific community is the biopiracy. This article through a case report, here is a presentation of some aspects related to the situations faced by professionals working directly in field and the possible actions and repercussions of these occurrences analyzed under the ethical, moral, scientific and legal aspects. It also discusses how can the mistakes in data collection and the incorrect critical analysis on the ethnographic information made by reporters, as well as the uncritical use of information from researchers published in the news, can lead to serious consequences to individuals and communities involved, generating (mis)information. Biopiracy should be seriously struggled by legal authorities and local citizens; until Brazilian people don’t get conscious of its ethical citizenship, there will be a great risk of losing much more than the biodiversity of our country"]
