Abstract
This article discusses about the role of the religious leaders (kyai) on the election campaign in Bengkulu. The involvement of religious leaders (Kyai) in politics especially in Bengkulu is very clear, and the political role is so dominant. This is proved by their tenacity in fighting for policies related to the interests of religion during in the House of Representatives meeting. They deliver different issues in political communication campaign. These issues are about fairness, promise, the need for development between the physical and spiritual aspects, the issue of the need to involve public participation in politics. There are three political typologies used by them (Kiai or Ustazd), namely: Politicians Religious, Nationalist politicians and Politicians Da’wah.
