Abstract
"Cuando en 1978 nace la primera niña generada por fecundación in vitro (FIV) surge inevitablemente la pregunta: ¿Tendrá los mismos riesgos de salud que los concebidos «naturalmente»? En el caso de Louise Brown no había razones por las que temer que padeciera ningún problema a consecuencia de la esterilidad de sus padres, cuyos gametos –óvulos y espermatozoides– no eran defectuosos. Se trataba simplemente de una obstrucción de las trompas de Falopio de la madre. No fue un embarazo múltiple, ni fue cultivada o congelada en su etapa embrionaria, sino pronto transferida al útero de su madre" ["When in 1978 the first child born generated by in vitro fertilization (IVF) inevitably raises the question: Will the same health risks that conceived "naturally"?
