Abstract
"Los contenidos del libro de Abdías, el menor entre los Doce Profetas, reflejan la situación en Jerusalén después de su destrucción en el 587 a.C.: grupos edomitas habían asistido a la ruina de la ciudad y perseguido a los sobrevivientes. Para la interpretación, es decisivo percibir que Abdías ve (su libro es una "visión") la realidad de sus días a partir de los fugitivos, aquéllos cuyas vidas fueron ahorradas en medio de la ruina. Su libro manifiesta el derecho a la vida de los fugitivos, y en eso está en la tradición de Jeremías (véase en especial Jr 37-45)" "The contents of the book of Obadiah, the smallest among the Twelve Prophets, reflects the situation in Jerusalem after its destruction in 587 BCE. Edomite groups had come to the ruined city and persecuted the survivors. In order to unterstand the book of Obadiah, it is crucial to perceive that Obadiah sees – his book is a “vision” – the reality of his time from the perspective of the fugitives, whose life was spared in the midst of ruin. The book of Obadiah argues for the right of the fugitives to live, and thereby stands in the tradition of Jeremiah (especially chaps. 37-45)"
