Abstract
新闻自由是传播新闻和表达意见的自由，是新闻传播有效运行的基本条件。几乎所有西方国 家都曾提出了“出版（新闻）自由”的口号。争取新闻自由的斗争不但给新闻界带来巨大的变 化，也极大地促进了各国政治民主化和经济自由化发展，而新闻自由内涵本身也随着民主自由的 高涨而日益丰富。然而，西方新闻自由发展到现在，也同时不断遭受实践与理论的考验，从自由 主义报刊理论到社会责任理论，再到内部新闻自由，展示出一幅兴奋与失望、迷惘与思考相交错 的困惑画卷。
