Abstract
"Este artigo propõe uma reflexão sobre as repercussões provocadas pelas inovações tecnológicas na prática assistencial médica, partindo de uma introdução histórica da Medicina como ciência, seguida de uma análise da economia da tecnologia em relação ao setor saúde. Considera as extraordinárias aplicações das inovações em Medicina face ao que denomina de perplexidade científica e ética, questionando se os avanços da ciência e da tecnologia não estariam induzindo uma mudança da missão do médico de promotor da saúde em direção à manipulação da vida humana" ["This paper aims at drawing the attention to the impacts caused by the technological innovations to the medical welfare practice. It starts from a historical perspective of the Medicine as a science, followed by an analysis of the economical aspects of the technology in relation to the health sector. The author considers the extraordinary applications of innovations in Medicine named scientific and ethical perplexity, questioning whether the advances in science and technology are not inducing a shift of the role played by the doctor as a promoter of health in the direction of manipulating human life"]
