Abstract
"O século 4º da era cristã é bastante emblemático. Foi neste período que o cristianismo, crença perseguida no Império Romano, tornou-se a religião do imperador e, por fim, religião oficial do próprio Império. Esta enorme virada lhe deu fôlego para aspirar a ser uma grande religião mundial. E o mundo greco-romano pouco depois adotaria um novo calendário: não mais centrado na fundação de Roma, mas no nascimento de Cristo. Tamanha mudança suscita admiração, e chega até mesmo a ser intrigante. Ainda hoje o nascimento da cristandade é controverso" ["The 4th century AD is quite emblematic. It was in this period that Christianity, belief persecuted in the Roman Empire, became the religion of the emperor, and finally, the official religion of the Empire itself. This huge upset gave breath to aspire to be a major world religion. And the Greco-Roman world shortly after would adopt a new calendar: no longer centered on the foundation of Rome, but the birth of Christ. Such change inspires admiration, and even extends to be intriguing. Even today the birth of Christianity is controversial"]
