Abstract
The article discusses about the role of some Islamic universities in the early and medieval age of Islamic history in the field of education and Islamic civilization. The author states that some Islamic universities such as Al-Azhar University, Fustat, Qurawiyin, Mustanshiriyah, Nidhamiyah, and Qordoba had important role in developing knowledge both Islamic knowledge and social sciences such as humaniora, sociology, and psychology. These universities had also pivotal contribution to Muslim scholars in developing some theories of knowledge and Muslim scholars regeneration which contributed to Islamic civilization.
