Abstract
"Uno de los periodos más turbulentos y de gran persecución en la historia del pueblo judío fue el reinado de Antioco IV Epifanes /175-164 a. C.). Fue la época en que los líderes de la religión judía, agrupados en el Templo, abandonaron decididamente las tradiciones de sus ancestros y asumieron la religión del imperio. El libro de Daniel nace en este medio, como señal de resistencia popular. La literatura apocalíptica, de la cual Daniel es su mayor expresión dentro del Primer Testamento, tiene esta peculiaridad: fortalecer la resistencia y reavivar la esperanza." "The reign of Antiochus Epiphanes IV (175-164 BC) was one of the most turbulent periods and marked by the worst persecution in Jewish history. It was the time when the leaders of Jewish religion, being centered around the Temple, consciously abandoning their ancestral traditions, holding on to the religion of the Grecian Empire. The Book of Daniel was a product of this period to be the sign the popular resistance. As the highest expression of the Apocalyptic literature of the First Testament, the Book of Daniel presents these particularities: strengthening the resistance and rekindling the hope."
