Abstract
"Si la bioética desea continuar protegiendo los valores que se propuso en su origen, necesita de un concepto de dignidad humana que sea inherente a todo individuo de nuestra especie. Esta afi rmación resultará evidente para muchos, para otros discutible, y para algunos «bioeticistas», sobre todo del área anglosajona, inconcebible. El principio de autonomía es capaz de evitar algunos de los abusos que dieron origen a la bioética, pero no es sufi ciente para evitarlos todos. Se requiere también la dignidad, o un concepto similar". ["Bioethics needs an inherent concept of dignity for each human being if it wants to protect the same values it assigned to itself at the beginning of its history. This affi rmation will be evident for many, dubious for others, and for many in the Anglo- Saxon world, unacceptable. The principle of autonomy is avoids some of the abuses that effected the birth of bioethics, but it is not enough to avoid them completely. Dignity or a similar concept is also required".]
