Abstract
"Der Klimawandel hat schwerwiegende Folgen für die weltweite Landwirtschaft. In den tropischen und subtropischen Breiten sind erhebliche Ernteeinbußen zu befürchten. Insbesondere in den ärmeren Ländern droht eine dramatische Verschlechterung der Ernährungslage. Allerdings ist der Landwirtschaftssektor nicht nur vom Klimawandel betroffen – er ist zugleich einer der Hauptverursacher von klimaschädlichen Treibhausgasen. Das Potential zur Verringerung von Emissionen in der Landwirtschaft ist enorm. Zudem könnten andere Bewirtschaftungsformen dazu beitragen, dass Böden vermehrt Kohlenstoff binden und damit den Kohlenstoffgehalt der Atmosphäre senken. Im Idealfall greifen Maßnahmen, die auf eine Verringerung der Treibhausgasemissionen durch die Landwirtschaft zielen und Maßnahmen, die die Anpassung landwirtschaftlicher Produktionssysteme an die Klimaveränderungen ermöglichen, Hand in Hand."
