Abstract
"No tempo que me foi concedido, gostaria de referir que o Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal (inml) desde há muito tinha a noção de que, da realização de cerca de 10.000 exames na área de genética forense, em muitos casos não seria possível haver amostras de referência para comparar aos resultados obtidos, designadamente não havendo um suspeito, não havendo um arguido ou não havendo ninguém com quem estabelecer esse elo. Portanto, havia o entendimento de que, sem possibilidade de comparação de dados, muito do trabalho efetuado poderia revelar-se completamente inútil e sem qualquer relevância para a investigação criminal" ["In the time allotted to me, I should mention that the National Institute of Legal Medicine (INML) has long had the idea that conducting about 10,000 tests in forensic genetics area, in many cases there could be no samples reference to compare the results obtained, especially with no one suspect, there being a defendant or not there anyone to establish this link. So there was the understanding that, without the possibility of data comparison, much of the work done could prove to be completely useless and without any relevance to the criminal investigation"]
