Abstract
"O presente ensaio apresenta os desafios da tolerância dentro da trajetória do protestantismo e a ironia que a história do protestantismo gerou dentro de si mesmo: de um ideal libertário e profético a uma instituição repressora. A partir de uma leitura da obra de Rubem Alves, Dogmatismo e Tolerância, percebe-se que grande parte dessa ironia se deve a manutenção da reta doutrina como unidade institucional. Nesse sentido, Rubem Alves aponta para o resgate do espírito profético e para o diálogo com o catolicismo para a edificação da tolerância" ["This paper presents the challenges of tolerance in the history of Protestantism and the irony that the history of Protestantism generated within itself: an ideal libertarian and prophetic to a repressive institution. From a reading of the work of Rubem Alves, Bigotry and tolerance, it is clear that much of this irony is due to maintenance of sound doctrine as an institutional unit. In this sense, Rubem Alves points to the rescue of the prophetic spirit and dialogue with Catholicism for the building of tolerance"]
