Abstract
"Éste es un estudio exegético de dos pasajes del 3-Isaías (61:1-3 y 58:1-14), que suelen ser relacionados con el tema del Jubileo. El análisis del texto, sin embargo, muestra que, lejos de referirse a aquella práctica (o tal vez utopía), el mensaje de liberación (61:1-3) o los reclamos sociales (58:6-7.9b-10) allí expresados superan las normas de los años sabático y jubilar. Éstos tienen un alcance limitado en el tiempo (7 ó 50 años) —lo que puede ser perjudicial— y en el contenido (no cubren todas las situaciones de injusticia social, económica o política). El artículo está enmarcado por consideraciones metodológicas sobre la extensión semántica del concepto de Jubileo. Extensión positiva en el orden espiritual, pero perjudicial por cuanto, al poner de todo en esa noción, se termina debilitando el fuerte y único componente social y económico que tiene en Levítico 25, el único texto bíblico que trata del tema" "This exegetical study deals with two passages from the Third Isaiah (61,1-3 and 58,1-14) which are usually related to the theme of the Jubilee. The analysis, however, shows that far from referring to that practice (or perhaps utopia), the liberation message (61,1-3), or the social claims (58,6-7.9b-10) surpass the norms of the sabbatical and jubilar years. These institutions are limited in time (7 or 50 years)— which can be a disadvantage —and also in their content (they do not cover all the situations of social, economic, or political injustice). The article is framed by some methodological reflections on the semantic extension of the Jubilee concept. Such semantic extension may be positive in the spiritual realm, but it is harmful as long as all sorts of ideas are made to fit into the concept. Thus, in the end, the strong and unique social and economic component of Leviticus 25 —the only text in the Bible that deals with the Jubilee— is weakened"
