Abstract
"Everything is what it is and not another thing," wrote Joseph Butler. And, in thinking about the Ministry in the local church or in the denomination, it is important to remember at the outset that the Ministry is different from, and far greater than the minister. The minister is one of the agents and instruments of theMinistry; the Ministry itself is nothing less than the service offered by the whole Church to Jesus Christ and His Cause, whether those engaged in it have been ordained or not."
