Abstract
"A Bioética vem abrindo, no meio acadêmico, cada vez mais, um espaço importante para a reflexão e juízo crítico de valores. Observa-se, porém, que na prática ela se apresenta como uma disciplina tradicional em meio a tantas outras, recebendo menor atenção por parte dos alunos. Diante desse cenário, foi realizada entre 2011 e 2012 uma pesquisa junto a 211 acadêmicos de medicina do primeiro e sexto anos das Universidades Estaduais do Paraná com o objetivo de investigar o que pensam estudantes que ingressam e que concluem o curso de medicina sobre questões bioéticas relacionadas ao início e final de vida. Foi realizado um estudo transversal e de abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa em amostras casuais simples. Este artigo traz os resultados quantitativos da amostra total da pesquisa, revelando que, de modo geral, os acadêmicos são contrários ao aborto, à eutanásia, a maioria não leu o Código de Ética Médica e entendem que o professor da disciplina de Bioética deva ser um profissional de qualquer área, porém com formação para tal. Concluiu-se ser necessária uma revitalização do ensino da Bioética nas instituições. Tendo por base a compreensão e considerando-se a complexidade e as várias interfaces de abordagem desse tema, espera-se que estes resultados estimulem o diálogo entre educadores, estudantes e instituições nas estratégias de acompanhamento da formação moral do acadêmico de medicina, aspecto relevante da prática médica" ["Bioethics has opened up more and more an important space for reflection and value judgment in the academic field. However, it is noted that in practice Bioethics is seen as a traditional discipline among many others, and therefore not very taken into consideration by students. Given this scenario, a survey was conducted from 2011 to 2012 with 211 medical students from the first and sixth (last) years of the State Universities from Paraná aiming at discovering what students entering and finishing the course think about bioethical questions related to beginning and end of life. A cross-sectional study was conducted with quantitative and qualitative approaches using simple random samples. This article presents the quantitative results of the full sample of the survey, showing that, in general, medical students are against abortion and euthanasia. Moreover, most of them have not read the Code of Medical Ethics and think that this discipline’s professor could come from any area, but he or she should have a qualification on the subject. It was concluded that a revitalization of education in Bioethics in the institutions is imperative. Based on this understanding and taking into consideration the complexity and the various interfaces for approaching this theme, it is expected that these results will stimulate a dialogue between professors, students and institutions about strategies for monitoring the moral formation of medical students, a relevant aspect of medical practice."]
