Abstract
History is otten written by war more than peace, and human society conditioned by tension and conflict rather than entity and unity between races, nations, classes. and genders. So. social hannony otten represents a utopian dream, desirable but not real.i1a.ble. As religious scripture and cultural canon, the Bible has formed and shaped Christian values and \isions in profound ways. What does the Bible have to say about social relations? This essay examines biblical traditions on conflict and concord aria evaluates their appropriations by major western and chinese interpreters who have evoked the Bible to eritique soeial evil and promote the common gooa resulting in oliirerent eonsetnienees. It is my hope that a macroscopic review and eritioal reileetion on the impact or biblical visions on social relations may yielol some helpiul religious insights on the silvsneenient oi social liannony.
