Abstract
"El paciente Schmitz morirá si no se le trasplanta un corazón nuevo, lo mismo que el paciente Meyer, que necesita un nuevo pulmón para sobrevivir. Sin embargo, los trasplantes necesarios todavía no están al alcance, a no ser que se mate al Sr. Müller, una persona sana. En todo caso, se salvarían dos vidas. Dos vidas contra una: un cálculo claro al servicio de la vida. John Harris, que ha introducido el caso en la discusión filosófica1, arguye que, al fin y al cabo, al Sr. Müller simplemente no se le puede ir a buscar por la calle, y que la elección de la víctima exigiría, desde luego, un procedimiento imparcial y equitativo.
