Abstract
"Para poder emitir un juicio ético sobre la muerte de Inmaculada Echevarría, lo fundamental, por no decir imprescindible, es establecer si en este caso concreto fue un acto de eutanasia, cooperación al suicidio o limitación de un medio terapéutico que se pudiera considerar desproporcionado. Por tanto, el primer aspecto a determinar es si para Inmaculada el mantenimiento del respirador artificial era un remedio terapéutico acorde con su situación clínica, o si por el contrario era un medio desproporcionado y por consiguiente se podría considerar que se estaba sometiendo a la paciente a un “ensañamiento terapéutico”". ["To give an ethical judgment about the death of Inmaculada Echevarría, essentially, if not indispensable, is whether in this particular case was an act of euthanasia, assisted suicide or limitation of a therapeutic agent that could be considered disproportionate.
