Abstract
Study of Islamic Law in Indonesia has been started since the entry of Islam to Indonesia in the 13th century. However, it reached the scriptural momentum on 17 or 18 century. At that time, the studies of Islamic law had been mostly held in traditional Islamic boarding schools. Most of the Islamic law literature were written in Arabic, with Syafi pattern, but also there are some Javanese language literature such as the book of Al-Majma' written by Saleh Darat Semarang. In this article, the author examines the development of Islamic legal studies at the Faculty of Syariah IAIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The author finds strong influence of a prominent cleric, Hasbi Ash Siddiqi, in building Fiqh Indonesia, this is called Ibrahim Hosen as Indonesia fiqh madhhab. The author also finds such a huge role played by the Faculty of Shariah in developing the study of Islamic law in Indonesia.
