"Grace Emori, oriunda de California, formó parte de los 120.000 norteamericanos de origen japonés que durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial fueron internados en campos de concentración por los Estados Unidos. Luego de la liberación de su familia en 1943, Grace estudió en colegios superiores adventistas del sur de California, y posteriormente en la Universidad de Loma Linda, donde recibió su licenciatura y maestría en enfermería. En la actualidad, la Sra. Emori es epidemióloga en el Centro para el Control y Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC) de Atlanta, Georgia.
