Abstract
"Esta breve apresentação tem o escopo de sublinhar a importância de estudos empíricos para se compreender as instituições e de orientar a leitura dos artigos presentes neste dossiê. Pensar o Estado e suas instituições é um verdadeiro desafio para as ciências sociais, a multiplicidade de instituições e agentes se manifestam de formas variadas e, por vezes, contraditórias. A ação do Estado se diversifica e se modifica com o tempo. Por isto, como afirmou John Dewey, “The State must always be redicovered.” (1954, p. 34). Trata-se não só de se compreender as instituições do Estado e suas lógicas próprias de funcionamento, mas também, como os atores concretamente engajam suas ações e atendem às demandas dos indivíduos" [" This brief presentation has the scope to emphasize the importance of empirical studies to understand the institutions and guide the reading of the articles present in this dossier. Think the state and its institutions is a real challenge for the social sciences, the multiplicity of institutions and agents are manifested in different ways and sometimes contradictory. The state action is diversified and changes over time. Therefore, as John Dewey said, "The State must always be redicovered." (1954, p. 34). This is not only to understand the institutions of the state and its own logic of operation, but also, as the particular actors engage their actions and meet the demands of individuals"]
