Abstract
"“Nos hemos limitado a meditar a la luz de la fe algunos aspectos del misterio de la Iglesia, poniendo todo el empeño en centrarlos lo mejor posible [...] También nosotros hemos levantado nuestra mirada hacia la «Jerusalén de lo alto». Su belleza nos ha cautivado cada vez más intensamente. Pero no la hemos contemplado como en sueños. No es que hayamos buscado una especie de refugio en alguna visión irreal que flota por encima de las nubes, huyendo así de la vulgaridad de las cosas de la vida cotidiana o de la tristeza que lleva aparejadas la existencia. Esta Patria de la Libertad [...] se nos ha manifestado en su majestad real y en su esplendor celestial en la entraña misma de nuestra realidad terrena, en el seno de las oscuridades y de las torpezas que comporta inevitablemente la misión que realiza entre los hombres. La hemos amado con un amor creciente tal como es, no sólo en su constitución ideal, sino tal como se nos manifiesta a lo largo de su historia y, más especialmente, tal como se nos muestra en nuestros mismos días. Nos ha robado el corazón.
