Abstract
"A urgência em compreender a etiologia e a fisiopatologia das doenças para que assim se melhore os procedimentos diagnósticos, terapêuticos, preventivos e paliativos, determinam a crescente necessidade de investigação em seres humanos, a qual permite uma enorme capacidade de intervenção sobre a vida e a natureza, o que obriga, pela sua complexidade, a uma reflexão profunda da bioética com vista a um comportamento com altos valores morais. Por isso, ao médico actual lhe é exigido não somente um conhecimento profundo científico como, e igualmente, um profundo saber da ciência ética, seja nos seus princípios gerais, seja nas suas próprias aplicações específicas" ["The urgency to understand the etiology and pathophysiology of the disease so that it improves the diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and palliative procedures, determine the increasing need for research on human beings, which allows an enormous capacity to intervene on life and nature, which requires, by its complexity, to a profound reflection of bioethics towards a behavior with high moral values.
