Abstract
Aiming at a global overview, ISBEE Global Research Projects were prepared in different regions. This paper focuses on perspectives of ethics in Latin American Small and Medium-Sized enterprises (SMEs). The authors’ objective is to analyze how the Latin American SMEs can become ethical and socially responsible, despite all the difficulties that they face to succeed within moral standards. Social work has been treated as a professional field since the 1940s. Concepts as charity and philanthropy had then since been used in business, as a way to support social needs that governments did not attend. The International Christian Union of Business Executives (UNIAPAC) inspired other non-governmental institutions to consider their initiatives and donations as social investments.
