Abstract
"Durante los últimos 25 años la incidencia de recién nacidos con defectos congénitos en España ha descendido un 56,7%, debido fundamentalmente a la práctica del aborto «por riesgo fetal», previo diagnóstico prenatal. En algunos casos, como en las personas con síndrome de Down, la estrategia supone la eliminación de un 80-90% de los afectados en el seno materno. Tras presentar las técnicas hoy utilizadas y los datos estadísticos, procederemos a realizar una reflexión acerca de la justificación ética de los programas de diagnóstico prenatal y la praxis del aborto «eugenésico»". ["Over the past 25 years, the incidence of newborns with congenital defects in Spain has fallen by 56.7% primarily due to the practice of «fetal risk» abortion, after prenatal diagnosis. In some cases, such as people with Down syndrome, the strategy involves the removal of 80-90% of those affected in pregnancy. After presenting the techniques used today and statistical data, we will make a reflection about the ethical justification for prenatal diagnosis programs and practice of «eugenic» abortion".]
