Abstract
"¿Pensar, qué es, si no es fundar? José Martí Rafael García Bárcena nació el 7 de junio de 1907 en la villa de Güines, en el sureste habanero, en medio de los intentos de la república por surcar su destino de consagración nacional. Durante su segunda década de vida asistió al nacimiento y la expansión de una vanguardia cultural que se volcó a la búsqueda de nuevos derroteros y que logró coincidir en una vanguardia política, para suerte de lo que puede identificarse como la génesis de la revolución que entonces renacía. Es imposible explicar la nación sin esa vanguardia. De ella surgió el instrumental que permitiría examinar con aspereza nuestros vicios y virtudes y, sobre todo, encontrar las claves para salir del dédalo de aquellos primeros años. A ese grupo, que supo defender altos ideales de justicia, ética y humanismo, se incorporó desde inicios de los años treinta García Bárcena, un hombre de profunda vocación martiana. Desconocido, como muchos otros de su generación, dejó una huella histórica en la búsqueda incesante de un futuro dichoso, una esperanza para Cuba, desde la poesía, el discurso o la acción. Ahí radican su inquietud, su inconformidad, la fuerza y el valor de sus ideas, consecuentes con su tiempo y leales a su pueblo. Ahí estuvo su pluma encendida" ["Think, what if it is not found?
