Abstract
"Luego de 50 años de régimen militar y de aislamiento del resto del mundo, Myanmar se está dirigiendo a una rápida transición democrática y a una transformación de su economía, con fuerte impacto en la estructura política y social del país. Los ojos de varios países se centran en esta nación, que cambió su nombre y su bandera varias veces, buscando oportunidades para alterar el balance de poder en una región caracterizada por un dinamismo notable en la superficie y por un apego a las tradiciones milenarias en lo cotidiano. Para las visiones simplistas, todo es cuestión de apertura comercial y desregulación económica, pero lo que básicamente está en juego hoy en Myanmar es el desafío de encarar un proceso de acumulación original, de una sociedad tradicional campesina, hacia un sistema capitalista, pero con las reglas de la democracia y con los valores de los derechos humanos y sociales que rigen las relaciones en el siglo XXI" ["After 50 years of military regime and isolation from the rest of the world, Myanmar is heading to a very rapid democratic transition and transformation of its economy, with a strong impact on the political and social structures of the country. The eyes of several countries focus in this nation, that changed its name and flag serveral times, looking for opportunities to change the balance of power in a region, characterized by its formidable dynamism on the surface, and by its attachment to millenary traditions in daily life. For simplistic approaches, everything is just matter of commercial opening and economic liberalization, but what in basically on stake in Myanmar today is the challenge of how to face a process of primitive accumulation from a traditional peasant society towards a capitalist system, but within democratic rules and the values of human and social rights that rule the relations in the XXIst. century"]
