Abstract
"Neste artigo, o reconhecido professor e pensador alemão nas áreas da teologia, filosofia e ética, Jörg Dierken, procede a uma análise e comparação meticulosas entre o pensamento de Josef Ratzinger e Jürgen Habermas no tocante ao tema da autonomia da razão na modernidade, com a concomitante exploração de seu possível sentido teológico. Sem identificar-se, em última análise, com nenhuma das duas perspectivas, Dierken implicitamente oferece uma alternativa de leitura geral no que concerne ao debate sobre “fé e razão” protagonizado há alguns anos pelos dois pensadores constantes do título. Nisso o autor retoma e desenvolve sobretudo o conceito de subjetividade gestado pelo idealismo alemão, indagando sobre seu sentido de transcendência. Apenas a título de esclarecimento, os tradutores deixam claro aos leitores que neste artigo (o Papa) Josef Ratzinger é abordado de maneira crítica e como pensador, à parte de sua posição de autoridade no âmbito do catolicismo" ["In the following paper the by now renowned German professor and thinker coming from the areas of theology, philosophy, and ethics, Jörg Dierken, proceeds to offer a detailed analysis of, and comparison between, the thought of both Josef Ratzinger and Jürgen Habermas concerning the broader issue of the autonomy of reason in modernity – with an ensuing exploration of its possible theological meaning. Though in the last analysis not following either of the suggested approaches, Dierken implicitly offers an alternative general reading of the debate on “faith and reason” which, some years ago, had both thinkers as protagonists. He does this by reoccupying and developing further the concept of subjectivity brought forward by German idealism as it opens up a sense of transcendence. Just as an aside, the translators want to make clear that in this paper (Pope) Josef Ratzinger is dealt with in a critical manner and as a thinker, quite apart from his position of authority in the context of world Catholicism"]
