Abstract
"Países como Puerto Rico, México y la República Dominicana, que tienen grandes poblaciones emigradas a los Estados Unidos están enfrentando dificultades para asimilarlas cuando regresan. Estas y otras naciones enfrentan los numerosos problemas que plantean las comunidades transnacionales y los flujos culturales contemporáneos. Los patrones de migración circular y las múltiples formas nuevas de transmisión y difusión culturales ejercen un efecto complejo y a menudo perturbador sobre la vida de los países de origen, comenzando, por supuesto, por las realidades económicas en los niveles individual y colectivo. La inmensa escala y la enorme significación de las remesas monetarias han sido ampliamente analizadas, sobre todo desde que se convirtieron en un porcentaje mayoritario de las economías nacionales de muchos países" ["Countries such as Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, which have large populations migrated to the United States are facing difficulties to assimilate when they return. These and other nations face the many challenges posed by transnational communities and contemporary cultural flows.
