Abstract
"The work that appears in this publication was written by the philosopher Amelia Valcárcel and presented at the panel on Equity and Human Rights held in conjunction with the VIII Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean (Lima, Peru, 8-10 February 2000). The collective memory and the challenges of feminism are reflected in the author's review of feminist political philosophy from the Enlightenment to the present day. She addresses the classic themes of equality and examines the sources that have given rise to much of the current contention between men and women. This brief and disciplined text examines the process by which the feminism of the Enlightenment was able to formulate its demands at the political level; the relationship of feminism to the building of democracy and the conditions under which it was possible to bring about legislative and educational changes; the second wave, represented by suffragism, at the time of World War I; the third wave, in the 1970s, and the challenges for the new millennium". ["El trabajo que aparece en esta publicación ha sido escrito por la filósofa Amelia Valcárcel y presentado en el panel sobre Equidad y Derechos Humanos , celebrada en conjunto con la Conferencia Regional VIII sobre la Mujer de América Latina y el Caribe ( Lima, Perú , 8 a 10 febrero, 2000 ) . La memoria colectiva y los retos del feminismo se reflejan en opinión del autor de la filosofía política, desde la Ilustración hasta nuestros días . Ella se ocupa de los temas clásicos de la igualdad, revisando críticamente las fuentes donde se originan muchos de los debates actuales entre hombres y mujeres. Este texto breve y disciplinado examina el proceso por el cual el feminismo de la Ilustración fue capaz de formular sus demandas en el plano político , la relación del feminismo con la construcción de la democracia y las condiciones bajo las cuales es posible lograr cambios legislativos y educativos , y la segunda ola , representada por el sufragismo , en el momento de la Primera Guerra Mundial , la tercera ola , en la década de 1970 , y los desafíos para el nuevo milenio".]
