Abstract
"En 1987, Betty Friedan afirmaba en su libro The Second Stage, “Today the problem that has no name is how to juggle work, love, home and children”. Con el transcurso del tiempo y en varias latitudes el malabarismo —que abarca también crecientemente el cuidado de personas adultas mayores dependientes y frágiles— ha ido adquiriendo denominaciones diversas. Todas las personas necesitamos del cuidado a lo largo de la vida. Si las necesidades universales que el término —con cierta ambigüedad— designa no fueran satisfechas, la sociedad no podría reproducirse; de allí que algunos lo conciban como un bien público (Gornick y Meyers, 2009, p. 6). Sin embargo, su cumplimiento ha sido visto como una responsabilidad eminentemente privada. Además, diferentes grupos afectados por la manera en que éste se provee no comparten una comunidad de intereses, ya que perciben los propios como desvinculados o, a veces, incluso como contrapuestos".
