Abstract
This article offers us a brief overview of the content and methodology of the book Comparative Theology written by Francis Clooney. As a contemporary comparative theologian, Clooney takes the reality of religious variety as the starting point of his book, endowing a new significance to comparative theology. On the basis of a deep respect for the uniqueness of tradition, he seeks for interreligious understanding while at the same time attempting to avoid an arbitrary theoretic unity. His comparative theological method is characterized by post-modern philosophy and has great significance for contemporary scholars and interreligious dialogue.
