Abstract
"Este artigo analisa o processo de reconfiguração do “self religioso” das muçulmanas convertidas da comunidade sunita do Rio de Janeiro, representada pela Mesquita da Luz, através da corporificação de novos ideais e disposições morais informados pelo islã. Ressalta também os componentes desse processo, que são a “crise de vida”, o afeto por um homem muçulmano, a performance das práticas disciplinares prescritas pela tradição islâmica, segundo a definição local, e o efeito que elas exercem sobre o self religioso corporificado daqueles agentes." ["This article analyzes the process of reconfiguration of the "religious self" of converted Muslims of the Sunni community in Rio de Janeiro, represented by the Mosque of Light, through the embodiment of new ideals and moral dispositions informed by Islam. Also highlights the components of this process, which are the "life crisis", the affection for a Muslim man, the performance of disciplinary practices prescribed by Islamic tradition, according to the local setting, and the effect they have on the religious self embodied those agents "]
