Abstract
Since a long time, women in rural areas had played an economic system role. The works which they did were just for the sake of their family economy. Married women worked for helping their husband in order to fill their daily needs which their husband alone was unable to provide. The aim of this study is to discuss, the role of women as householders and merchant in the market. Qualitative research was conducted in Langowan market. The result of this study shows that those women have double roles, both as economic supporter as well as householder.
