Abstract
"La ética personalista se fundamenta en la idea de la dignidad de la persona, que es fin en sí misma y valor absoluto. La persona desde esta perspectiva es inviolable. Pero esta inviolabilidad que se aplica a cuantos seres nacen de personas, tiene más de criterio sustentador que de fundamento radical, porque la categorización biológica de persona, con ser real, parece insuficiente para fundamentar fines últimos. y es que, como subraya Adela Cortina, todas las categorías acuñadas por la historia del pensamiento son imprescindibles para descubrir que ese hombre es mucho más que naturaleza. Verdaderamente, "el hombre posee valor absoluto y es fin en sí mismo porque es imagen y semejanza de Dios"l. Pero no radica sólo en Dios la plenitud de este fundamento, sino que como de efecto a causa o de fundado a fundamento la persona es valiosa por ser persona, aunque la determinación de qué sea persona exige la mediación de Dios" ["The personalist ethic is based on the idea of the dignity of the person, which is an end in itself and absolute value.
