Abstract
The paper criticaly explorers the history of Islamic resurgance in Indonesia by early 20th century marked by the establishment and the growing of some Islamic organizations. Advancing ummah or people is said as one of the biggest tasks of Islam and regarding that the political situation under the colonialist power at the time which did not enough opportunity to educate Islamic people, Islamic organization both from modernist and traditional side were the answer for that problem.
