Abstract
The paper investigates the implementation of critical pedagogy to encourage students's critical thinking in Islamic Studies at two private highschools located on Jakarta.Using the approach of Paulo Freire's idea on critical pegagogy, the main findings of the research is the important role played by the teacher in encouraging the critical thinking of their students.
