Abstract
This paper examines the application of semiotic approaches to Islamic thinking by Ian Richard Netton in his book Nehemiah transcendent (1994). Like Arkoun, Netton proposed the approaches to a new view of Islamic thought, particularly the philosophical meaning to theological concepts through the use of a method which is a mixture of structuralist and semiotic theories in order to uncover some of the structures of modern philosophy and theology of Middle Ages Islam
