Abstract
"O governo brasileiro promove o crescimento econômico do país através de um conjunto de investimentos em infraestrutura e medidas de incentivo e facilitação do investimento privado, seguindo um modelo que privilegia grandes corporações e a exportação de bens. No que se refere aos bens minerais, se por um lado, os lucros e divisas gerados revelam o sucesso da ação do Estado, por outro, os conflitos socioambientais e a flexibilização de leis e regras de controle ambiental revelam o fracasso da ação do Estado em garantir o direito ao desenvolvimento das populações residentes nos territórios foco dos grandes empreendimentos. Nesse sentido, o crescimento das atividades minero siderúrgicas no Brasil vem sendo acompanhado pela mobilização de vários grupos da sociedade civil frente às alegações de violações de direitos humanos cometidas no âmbito destas operações. O objetivo desse artigo é analisar os impactos e danos existentes e ocasionados pela implantação do projeto mineral Minas-Rio no município de Conceição do Mato Dentro. Os impactos tratados são, em particular, aqueles registrados por habitantes das comunidades atingidas pelo empreendimento" ["The Brazilian government promotes economic growth through a set of infrastructure investments and incentives and facilitation private investment, following a model that favors large corporations and export of goods.
