Abstract
"Chile creó los Fondos Nacional de Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico (FONDECYT) y Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo en Salud (FONIS) para estimular la investigación científica en humanos. Las propuestas que reciben financiación de estos fondos, están dirigidas por investigadores con diversos grados académicos. Desconocemos si esto influye en el cumplimiento de normas éticas en los protocolos y Consentimientos Informados (CI) de estos proyectos. El objetivo fue determinar la influencia que tiene el grado académico del investigador principal en la adherencia al cumplimiento de normas éticas en los protocolos de investigación y CI de los proyectos desarrollados en seres humanos, área médica, financiados por FONDECYT regular-FONIS en las convocatorias 2006-2008 Chile. Para esto fueron elegidos 50 proyectos por conveniencia y al azar a los que se aplicaron dos instrumentos creados para evaluar las características metodológicas de relevancia ética y las consideraciones éticas de los proyectos y sus CI. La variable independiente fue el grado académico del investigador principal, se consideraron estadísticamente significativos hallazgos con una p<0.05. Se encontró un bajo nivel de cumplimiento de normas éticas y un alto porcentaje de cumplimiento en parámetros metodológicos de relevancia ética en los protocolos de investigación, independientemente del grado académico del investigador principal. Los proyectos dirigidos por investigadores con grados de doctorado / posdoctorado usaron CI con mayor adherencia a recomendaciones éticas. El grado académico del investigador principal influyó poco en el nivel de cumplimiento de normas éticas en protocolos de investigación y CI de los grupos de investigación financiados por FONDECYT regular-FONIS en Chile durante 2006-2008" ["Chile created research financing funds, namely, Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico (FONDECYT) (National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development) and Fondo Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo en Salud (FONIS) (National Fund for Research and Development in Health) to stimulate scientific research involving human beings. The proposals that receive financing of these funds are the responsibility by researchers with different academic statuses. We do not know if this influences respect for ethical norms in protocols and Informed Consent Forms (ICF) of these projects. The aim was to find the influence of the academic status of the main researcher in the adhesion to ethical norms in protocols of investigation and ICFs of the projects developed in human beings, in the medical field, financed by FONDECYT regular- FONIS calls in 2006-2008 in Chile. For doing this 50 projects were randomly chosen by topic and we applied them two instruments created to evaluate the methodological characteristics of ethical relevancy and ethical considerations of projects and their ICF. The independent variable was the academic status of the main researcher, and we considered statistically significant findings with p<0.05. There was a low level of respect for ethical norms and a high percentage of respect to methodological parameters having ethical relevancy in research protocols notwithstanding the academic status of the main researcher. The projects by doctorate / post-doctorate researchers used ICF with a greater adhesion to ethical recommendations. The academic status of the main researcher had little influence on the level of respect for ethical norms in research protocols and ICF in research groups sponsored by FONDECYT regular FONIS in Chile in the period 2006-2008"]
