Abstract
The paper tries to describe clearer picture of Hamka's views in responding some of major religio-political issues in Indonesia during 1971-1981. The author sees that the major constraint of the good relationship between Muslim and Christian in Indonesia was the Christian missionary activities on the one hand, and also the refusal of the proposal of Islamic state ideology, replaced by Pancasila without syariah inside
