Abstract
How should a Christian live a righteous life is a question for all Christians. It is also historically foundational. At the end of the 15th century,Savonarola found that Florentine citizens had accumulated enormous material wealth under the guise of humanistic secularism,while at the same time they were spiritually overwhelmed by sin and desire. He initiated the notion of a “righteous Christian life" as a guide. This article combs the theoretical framework and doctrinal system of “ righteous Christian life",and explores its role as an aspect of Humanism. The conclusion is that “ righteous Christian life" is integral to 15th-century Humanism and a philosophical bridge to later Christian Humanism.
